One year ago, Angela Flanagan was at her lowest. Her self esteem was as absent as her energy, she felt horrible, and was extremely overweight. As she looked down at her new baby she wondered how she would ever be able to keep up and be the mother she wanted to be.
So many things in life are simply put — hard. Not much comes easy. Intuitively, we know this to be true, yet we often see people reaching for a way to debunk this almost natural law of the universe. And why should we expect anything to come easy anyway? Tom Hanks in A League of Their Own explained “It’s supposed to be hard. If it wasn’t hard, everyone would do it. The hard is what makes it great.” Can’t argue with you on that one Tom, well said.
When our friend Andy Clarke posts in our Facebook groups, we know that it will inspire everyone to get involved. Last week he posted the following:
"Why did you do it Wednesday" - Why did you start your fitness journey? Why do you love to run/wog or walk? Why do you want to go farther? Why do you want to go faster? Tell me WHY!!
For me it was only about the fitness benefits and then I met all of you. I have enjoyed this group so much and enjoy trying to help others as best as I can. It is also great for killing time when your kids are grown and out of the house!!
You are an inspiration! You might not be aware of the impact you have on those around you, but the fact that you have made fitness a priority in your life inspires others. When they see what you are doing, they start to believe that they can do it too.

My husband, Jim, has always been active in swimming and biking and had been encouraging (bugging) me for years to take up a sport we could do together. When our son left for college in 2010 we bought road bikes and have been in love with the sport ever since. It has opened up a whole new world for us to explore.

Meet Andrew Clarke, a beloved, hilarious, treasured part of the Run The Edge community who has participated in a number of our virtual fitness challenges. He is kind, encouraging, and motivational. Andrew weighed over 525 pounds when he started his weight loss journey.
Love stories, like people, come in all shapes and sizes. The following love story, sent to us by Lee Bennett, touched our hearts because he and his wife Tanya were able to change their shapes and sizes as their love for each other, their children, and healthy lifestyles transformed them inside and out.
